LARRY BELL AWARD - ADVANCING ENERGY CONSERVATION WITHIN B.C.

MINISTRY OF ENERGY, MINES AND PETROLEUM RESOURCES
What do you call a person who started championing—and living—the values of energy conservation and sustainability long before they became a popular movement? A conservation crusader? An environmental visionary? Let’s just call him by name, Andrew Pape-Salmon.

A professional engineer and the Acting Director-Energy Efficiency for the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (MEMPR), Andrew has made significant contributions to the advancement of energy efficiency policy in British Columbia, from helping to develop the BC Green Building Code to developing equipment standards for the Energy Efficiency Act. He has directed the development of educational events and materials, led activities for employee action, and worked with utilities, the building sector and others to instill the conservation ethic throughout B.C. society.

Within MEMPR, Andrew’s ideas, suggestions and solutions have fostered a grassroots movement supporting conservation. But his influence reaches far beyond the Ministry, through his leadership, commitment and vision in building a more sustainable province for all British Columbians.
